Don’t forget about the abs – you can do exercises for them without being distracted from the plot. So, you see, in 30 minutes you will have worked all your muscles and will enjoy the new series. It’s generally a sin for owners of treadmills and exercise bikes to sit on the sofa: you won’t even notice how you start moving more.
2/ Prepare a week ahead
Don't like to cook? Then save yourself the torment, only on Sunday gather your strength and make preparations for the week. Here's a couple more tips from nutritionist Joy Dubost. Instead of imposingly wandering through all departments, quickly go to pre-designated points, buying products exactly according to the list. This way, you'll only pause for a moment while choosing a brand or product option. And here, too, Dubost offers quick solutions: whole milk instead of skim milk (yes, the percentage of fat is important for weight loss!), whole grain pasta and bread instead of traditional high-grade flour, sparkling mineral water instead of sweet sodas and, of course, small portioned packages, if you tend to overeat.
4/ Stock up on ready-made snacks
If you don't carry healthy treats with you (a bag of unsalted nuts or sugar-free apple chips), then by the end of the day you will inevitably want to eat something from the cafeteria or vending machine. Prepared food is not always harmful, but it is not always possible to find slices and whole fruits and vegetables, nuts and yoghurts. And if, when you come home from the store, you make it a rule to wash and put bags of dried fruits in your bags and pockets, you will always have a decent snack on hand.
5/ Take a clutch
When going to a buffet party, take a clutch instead of the usual full-size bag. Your hands are busy - it’s harder to pile too much on your plate.
6/ Buy the right pan
Invest in non-stick cookware and you'll cut down not only your cooking time, but also your overall calorie count. It is clear that vegetable or butter should be consumed in moderation: a tablespoon of even the healthiest olive oil contains as many as 120 kilocalories and 14 grams of fat, and a spoonful of butter contains 102 kcal and 12 grams of fat. Remember that it also takes longer to wash dishes after fatty dishes, but you’re too lazy.
7/ Eat slowly
Developing the habit of taking a dramatic pause between bites may take time, but it's worth it! It has been experimentally proven that putting down your spoon or fork as you chew each bite will help you feel full earlier and end up eating less. And chew more thoroughly: a study from Harbin Medical University found that those who made 40 jaw movements consumed fewer calories than those who only managed 15. And let's not do without the traditional advice from nutritionists on how not to overeat: drink water before eating. This is good for your health and will reduce your appetite.
8/ Order ready-made lunches
If cooking is definitely not your thing, feel free to contact delivery services; now many companies offer healthy and dietary sets for every day. Calories have already been counted, portions have been laid out - this is what helps many people lose weight, as studies show. The choice is large, from the simplest dishes to gourmet ones, and the only negative is the price of ready-made food. However, you can motivate yourself by the fact that you will spend the time saved at the stove on earning your first million.
9/ Stock up on popcorn
Emotions from exciting scenes in a movie (which you lazily watch at home or on the big screen) eat puffed corn - oddly enough, this also helps you lose weight. A study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that popcorn crunchers got 250 percent whole grains and 22 percent more fiber than popcorn snobs. And whole grains and fiber, as you probably know, are very satiating and help control blood sugar levels. Chips and cookies can't boast of anything like that. But, of course, only properly prepared popcorn can be called healthy for your figure: not covered in butter and not spoiled with sugar and mountains of salt.
10/ Choose sportswear
If in the past you were turned off from doing fitness by the wretchedness of your sports uniform, now different, better times have come! 11/ Play computer games
The days of armchair warriors are also behind us - modern consoles with advanced controllers offer excellent “active” games with which people of any age can burn a lot of calories. Scientists from Brigham Young University found that students playing high-energy games like Wii boxing or Dance Dance Revolution on the Playstation easily met the recommended physical activity guidelines (60 minutes a day for children and 150 minutes a week for adults). Their study, published in Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, found that participants spent 4–6.7 calories per minute during active play (walking at 4.5 km/h only burns 4 kcal).
12/ Trust the phone
Don't worry about counting calories - let your smartphone do it! There are plenty of applications that allow you to keep a food diary using your photos of dishes - choose according to your taste. And then there are those who will tell you how to change your diet to lose weight, and create a training program if you are too lazy to understand all this yourself.
13/ Walk more
If you don't have time for fitness in your busy schedule, just try to move actively during the day. Split the load: if you can’t spare half an hour for a full workout, break it up into three exercises for ten minutes each. As Swedish scientists discovered, even one sleepless night can turn on energy saving mode, and the body will spend 5-20% fewer calories on vital functions (breathing, digestion, etc.) than usual.
15/ Apply lipstick
Choose your color - scarlet, coral, or maybe lilac. Bright lipstick is not only trendy, but, according to the authors of the method, it will help you stay away from excess sweets or greasy foods - you don’t want to smear such beauty, do you? And you will have to chew healthy foods more carefully, which also helps you avoid overeating.
16/ And paint your nails
If you have already done all the required exercises in front of the screen, and you have run out of popcorn, do a manicure. Treating your claws and drying your polish will take your mind off the idea of dipping your fingers into a bag of chips while you're trembling at the Game of Thrones characters.
17/ Pay in cash
Shopping with a card has become too convenient - and is already adding extra pounds to us! A recent study from the Journal of Consumer Research found that shoppers indulge in more unhealthy treats when paying with cards. Why? The authors of the work believe that parting with paper bills is “more painful” for us, since the expenditure of funds is too visible (as opposed to an intangible debit from the account). And this sadness forces you to give up impulsive unhealthy desires, indirectly helping you diet and lose weight.
18/ Brush your teeth
Remember Pavlov and his dog and develop a useful reflex: brush your teeth quickly after dinner.
